Fitting gas rams to the bonnet.

One of the most useful modification is to add gas ram lifters to the bonnet. I have found that this is useful in a few ways... in windy conditions, I have seen Capri bonnets blow off the original prop and come crashing down, which can cause major damage. Also the original prop doesn't half get in the way when working on the engine. The solution is gas ram lifters.

The best way of doing this is to simply have a bracket that bolts to the strut top. The only drilling needed is of the bonnet hinge to fit the appropriate ball stud fixing for the gas rams, which incidentally, are taken from a Capri tailgate. The position to drill the bonnet hinges can be seen in the photos above.

The strut top mounting brackets are made from laser cut 5mm thick mild steel and the gas ram mounts are welded on using a special jig to ensure accuracy. They are then finished in Satin black. My price for a pair of these brackets? only £25 Gas rams may be available at extra cost depending on supply of good second hand units.
